Eliminating hepatitis C in England by the end of 2025 is a bold and ambitious goal and may challenge traditional healthcare treatment pathways. We spoke to healthcare professionals about new and unorthodox multifaceted services using divergent solutions to reach patients.

Professor Graham Foster

Professor Foster is the Professor of Hepatology at Queen Mary’s, University of London, and a consultant at Barts Health in East London. Professor Foster has a long-standing interest in the management of chronic liver disorders, with particular reference to viral hepatitis. He runs a clinical research programme studying the natural history of viral hepatitis, its impact upon patients and their communities and novel therapies for this disease.

Mark Cassell is a Nurse Consultant in Viral Hepatitis, Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Mark previously worked as a Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist, at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust supporting outreach work in the South Yorkshire area.

Sally Bufton is the Hepatitis Operational Delivery Network Manager for Birmingham and the West Midlands since the start of the networks in 2015. Prior to that Sally was a Hepatitis Clinical Nurse Specialist, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
